All About Molokini

Sunken volcanic crater. Dive, snorkel & whale watch. Maui Hawaii.

Travel Tips

• Arrive early at the dock. At busy times of the year, finding a parking space may take an extra few minutes.

• If you are a serious diver and PADI certified, a better choice would be to select a dive boat over one of Molokini charters for an unforgettable trip.

• Diving or going on a snorkel tour to Molokini is weather dependent. There’s a few days a year where the surf or winds might prevent the captain from providing an enjoyable trip. Most tour boats have excellent alternative snorkel & dive locations.

• Wear sunscreen. Even though the ocean breeze may feel cool, the beautiful Hawaiian sunshine reflecting off the water can cause serious sunburn.

• Big floppy hats have a way of blowing off in the ocean breezes. A ball cap or scarve might be a good option.

• Protect this beautiful preserve. Do not walk on the island.

• Please do not feed the marine life, approach sea turtles or Monk seals.

• Don’t try to kayak to the island. Ocean currents between Maui and Molokini are very strong and the wind can go from a balmy southeastern breeze to 30 mph northerly trades without warning.
